Baker's nondescript first year in New England involved more blocking than pass catching. The 30-year-old figures to return with a manageable $2 million due him in 2010 salary, but is unlikely to become a fantasy factor.

Baker has fallen behind Ben Watson in the passing game. He's not a fantasy option regardless of his health.

Chris Baker caught two passes for 42 yards and a touchdown in the Patriots' Week 3 win over the Falcons.

Baker had just eight yards combined coming into this game and isn't often going to catch 36-yard touchdown passes. Leave him on the waiver wire.

Patriots TEs Ben Watson and Chris Baker rotated series until late in the fourth quarter on Sunday.

Much like Week 1, Watson got the call late in the game. Watson played 47 snaps to 31 for Baker. Neither player is going to have fantasy value if the two continue to rotate.

This being a Bill Belichick team, we have no idea what has kept Watson on the sidelines since the beginning of training camp. Regardless, he appears to have fallen behind Chris Baker in the tight end pecking order.

Patriots coach Bill Belichick singled out Chris Baker when talking about the team's tight end competition Sunday.

A rare move by Belichick, and one that confirms our suspicions that Baker will get the most snaps on the team at tight end. Ben Watson, Alex Smith, and David Thomas are bunched closely together behind Baker. We wouldn't draft any of them, but Baker could be a bye-week fill in.
