Titans C Kevin Mawae (elbow surgery) declared himself ready to go for Thursday's game against the Steelers.
Mawae just got back to practice on Aug. 25, but said Monday "the elbow hasn't been any problem. I am not worried about it, and haven't given it two thoughts." That's huge for the Titans' running game and pass protection.

Titans removed C Kevin Mawae from the Physically Unable to Perform list.
This clears the 16-year veteran to practice. Mawae has spent all of camp on the PUP list as he is recovering from elbow surgery. Leroy Harris has been filling in, but expect Mawae to be ready for Week 1. He's a big part of the Titans' running game.

Titans C Kevin Mawae (elbow surgery) still isn't practicing but has maintained his conditioning.
The 38-year-old Mawae joined his offensive line teammates for some sprints after practice Sunday and beat everyone. There's been no update on a timetable for Mawae's return, but it's a good sign that he's running. Chris Johnson and the Titans' offense need him.

Titans beat writer Jim Wyatt is growing "more and more skeptical" that C Kevin Mawae (elbow surgery) will be ready to play by Week 1.
The 16-year veteran doesn't really need the preseason action, but Wyatt believes the team may hesitate to pull Leroy Harris out of the lineup the week before the opener. Harris is a solid backup, so the Titans running game should be fine until Mawae returns.

 Kevin Mawae-C - Titans Aug. 1 - 9:09 am et

Titans C Kevin Mawae (elbow surgery) has changed his return date from the start of training camp to the start of the regular season.
Mawae's recovery is going slower than expected. But in his 16th year, he really doesn't need training camp. However, Chris Johnson and the rest of the Titans need their Pro Bowl center in there. Leroy Harris is the starter when Mawae can't go.

 Leroy Harris-C - Titans Jul. 4 - 10:23 am et

Even though Titans Pro Bowler Kevin Mawae (elbow surgery) is on track to be ready for training camp, the team is high on his backup, Leroy Harris.
Harris is a nice insurance policy for Mawae, who doesn't have to rush back. Mawae's contract is up after this year and Harris will likely step in at that point, if not sooner.
