Donnie Avery left Sunday's game against the Jaguars with a bruised hip, and his return is doubtful.
Avery caught a 17-yard touchdown on the opening drive, then hurt the hip in the second quarter. He was replaced by Tim Carter. Carter, too, was injured on his first series. The Rams are awfully thin at the wideout spot.

Carter has speed, but has always been prone to drops and injuries and offers no upside at age 30. The ex-Giant won't save St. Louis' wideout corps.

Carter's contract was terminated as a vested veteran. Considering how thin the Rams are at wide receiver, it's pretty surprising they dumped both Carter and Ronald Curry today.

Wideout Tim Carter (groin) has resumed practicing at Rams training camp.
The Rams' new medical staff is already working wonders, as several players have returned from injury sooner than expected. Carter seems poised to make a Week 1 roster for the first time in several years, but will be a backup.

Rams WR Tim Carter (groin) is expected to miss between 10 days and two weeks.
Carter moved up the depth chart after Donnie Avery's injury, but this will hurt the oft-injured former Giant's bid making the team. We'll find out in the Rams' second preseason game if Ronald Curry has anything left.
