Hamdan had been with the Bills since 2007 before being released in favor of Brian Brohm last month. He'll provide insurance with Trent Edwards lost for the season and Ryan Fitzpatrick nursing an ankle injury.

Bills released QB Gibran Hamdan.
Buffalo is choosing to go with the potential and pedigree of Brian Brohm, who they signed off the Packers' practice squad Wednesday. Hamdan never attempted a pass with the Bills, though he did consistently outperform J.P. Losman on the practice field during the 2007 and 2008 seasons.

Trent Edwards (concussion) will not dress for Sunday's game against the Texans.
Edwards, who has been medically cleared to return, will not even back up Ryan Fitzpatrick. That job will go to Gibran Hamdan once again. Edwards may not get his starting job back if Fitzpatrick continues to win games.

Bills re-signed QB Gibran Hamdan.
Hamdan passed J.P. Losman on the depth chart last season. The former NFL Europe all star will be in the mix for a roster spot behind Trent Edwards and Ryan Fitzpatrick. Hamdan's main competition will be Matt Baker.
