The Chiefs' return for sending Tyler Thigpen to the Dolphins last month is reported to be a fifth-round draft pick.
The Chiefs had been holding out for a fourth-rounder, but no team was going to give up more than a fifth for a quarterback who has yet to show that he can play in a standard offense.

Beat writer Armando Salguero expects newly acquired Tyler Thigpen to overtake Pat White as the Dolphins' spread/Wildcat quarterback.
Salguero points out that Thigpen runs nearly as well as White, is a much more proven passer, and has plenty of experience in the package. Thigpen can even play receiver. He'll pass White on the depth chart soon enough.

Chiefs traded QB Tyler Thigpen to the Dolphins for an undisclosed draft pick.
The Chiefs were reportedly holding out for a fourth-rounder earlier in the year, but it would be surprising if they got more than a fifth. Chad Pennington's injury left the Dolphins without an experienced backup, so Thigpen will be a nice insurance policy. Since Miami wants to take a look at their quarterback of the future for the rest of the season, Thigpen won't be a threat to Chad Henne's starting job.

Brodie Croyle was pulled from the game against the Ravens in the second quarter on the Chiefs' fourth drive in favor of Tyler Thigpen.
Croyle wasn't making any plays, leading the team to three 3-and-outs to start the game against the Ravens' stout defense. Thigpen didn't do much at all on his lone drive either, and coach Todd Haley threw Croyle back into the fire. We'll see how Haley decides to play it in the second half in Baltimore.

The Chiefs will "probably" start Brodie Croyle in Week 1 if Matt Cassel (knee) is unable to play, according to the Associated Press.
Croyle was terrible in Kansas City's preseason finale, but the team lists him as the No. 2 quarterback ahead of Tyler Thigpen. Thigpen is also dealing with broken ribs. No Chiefs QB will be a fantasy option against Baltimore.

Brody Croyle completed just 5-of-16 passes for 85 yards against the Rams in the preseason finale.
Croyle made a couple of nice throws, but he just missed too many receivers. While his performance was poor, Tyler Thigpen's was even worse. After going 2-for-7 for 49 yards and two interceptions in two series, Thigpen was pulled from the game. Croyle likely enjoys a slight edge heading into Week 1, but he's not a fantasy option even if Matt Cassel (knee) can't play.
