Texans declared third QB Dan Orlovsky, WR Kevin Walter, TE Anthony Hill, DL DelJuan Robinson, C Chris White, C Antoine Caldwell, DB Jacques Reeves and DB Eugene Wilson inactive.
Orlovsky lost out to Rex Grossman for the backup QB job. Walter's hamstring wasn't good enough to go, so Andre' Davis will get the start.

Rex Grossman has won the Texans' backup quarterback job over Dan Orlovsky.
This was expected as Grossman is the better quarterback. He proved it in the preseason finale, going 9-of-16 for 197 yards and two touchdowns. There's a very good chance Grossman will be pressed into action this year as he will play behind the fragile Matt Schaub.

Texans coach Gary Kubiak said the competition between Rex Grossman and Dan Orlovsky for the No. 2 QB job is still up in the air.
This is a big decision because there's an excellent chance Matt Schaub will miss games this season. Grossman is more talented but Orlovsky has had a nice camp. Kubiak said he would make a decision this week.

Rex Grossman completed 9-of-16 passes for 197 yards and two touchdowns against the Bucs Friday night.
Grossman led scoring drives on each of his first four possessions while Dan Orlovsky managed to go just 5-of-7 for 51 yards and an interception. Grossman has had his troubles, but he's a better QB than Orlovsky. Stay tuned this week for a depth chart update.

Dan Orlovsky went 11-of-17 for 136 yards and a touchdown, but also had two turnovers in Saturday's loss to the Saints.
Orlovsky played better than his 9-of-20 effort last week against Kansas City, but he needs to cut down on the turnovers. The Teaxns are going to need him to play well, as Matt Schaub hasn't stayed healthy for a full season since 2006.

The Texans' website confirms that Rex Grossman is competing for the team's No. 3 quarterback job.
The site confirms that Grossman is in a battle with Alex Brink just to make the team as a third-stringer behind Matt Schaub and Dan Orlovsky. There's reason to believe that Brink is the Texans' third most accurate quarterback.
