Matt Pettinger will lose his spot on the Vancouver roster when Daniel Sedin is activated from the injured reserve list prior to Sunday's game.
Pettinger was placed on waivers Friday but actually played Friday night against Colorado, getting no stats in 8:37 minutes of action. Pettinger was originally recalled due to the spate of injuries the Canucks had up front. "I kind of knew what the understanding was," Pettinger said. "Obviously they had a lot of injuries and a lot of them are healthy now. I thought I did a fairly good job and, with the conversations I had with them, they were happy, too. I'll find out tomorrow (Saturday) what my options are and move on from there. Obviously they're are getting a heck of a player back."

Matt Pettinger has been placed on waivers.
Oddly enough, he will play for Vancouver on Friday night against the Avalanche. The move was made to make room for the pending return of Daniel Sedin to the Canucks' lineup. "I kind of knew what the understanding was," Pettinger said. "Obviously they had a lot of injuries and a lot of them are healthy now. Alex Burrows had a goal and an assist in Vancouver's 5-2 victory over Minnesota on Thursday.
Burrows assisted on Henrik Sedin's shorthanded goal in the second. Alex Edler chipped in with a pair of assists. Darcy Hordichuk, Matt Pettinger and Mason Raymond had the other goals for Vancouver.

The Vancouver Canucks have signed Matt Pettinger.
The financial terms of the deal were not immediately available. The Canucks currently have six forwards sidelined and they desperately needed someone to help fill in the void. He had eight goals and 15 points in 59 games with the Tampa Bay Lightning last season.
