Antero Niittymaki won the battle of the Finnish goalies as the Lightning downed the Flames 2-1 in overtime on Saturday evening.
Niittymaki stopped 25 of the 26 shots that he faced in tonight's contest to improve to 15-9-5 on the season. He also extended his winning streak to three consecutive contests, while not experiencing a loss in eight starts. He has firmly entrenched himself into the number one role in Tampa and should see plenty of starts the rest of the way.

Antero Niittymaki turned aside 34 of 36 Islanders' shots in Tampa Bay's 5-2 win Thursday night.
The Finnish netminder has won six of his last eight starts for the red-hot Lightning, going 6-1-1 over that span while allowing more than two goals just once. Niittymaki improves to 14-9-5 with the win.

Antero Niittymaki is expected to play between the pipes on Thursday.
Niittymaki has allowed just three goals over his last four starts. He's been superb all season with a 2.47 GAA and .918 in 29 games. We wouldn't be surprised if Niittymaki gets the bulk of the starts over Mike Smith for the remainder of the season.

Todd White scored his 5th goal of the season but it wasn’t enough as Atlanta fell to Tampa Bay 2-1 Tuesday night.
Mark Popovic and Maxim Afinogenov picked up the assists on Atlanta’s lone goal. To their credit Antero Niittymaki was marvelous, stopping 26 shots.

Antero Niittymaki was great Tuesday night as the Lightning beat the Thrashers 2-1.
Tampa Bay has played well of late, winning 4 of their last 6. Niittymaki got all of those starts. Hopefully this team can turn it around and make a playoff push. Niittymaki made 26 saves on 27 shots in this game. His record now sits at 13-9-5.
