Thomas Vanek scored his sixth goal of the season as the Buffalo Sabres beat the Philadelphia Flyers 3-2 Saturday.
Vanek's first period goal was a power play maker. Tyler Ennis scored his first career goal and Paul Gaustad scored the game winner for the Sabres in the third period.

Paul Gaustad returned to the Sabres' lineup Wednesday after missing two games due to the flu.
Gaustad scored his third goal of the season late in the third period of Wednesday's game. He was on the ice for 15:14 minutes and finished the game with a plus-one plus/minus rating.

He has missed the last two games because of the flu, but appears to be recovering. He may be ready to play on Wednesday against the Islanders.

Paul Gaustad missed his second straight game on Saturday with the flu.
He remained behind in Buffalo when his teammates traveled to Long Island. Patrick Kaleta also sat out due to the flu, so the Sabres used defender Nathan Paetsch on the wing on their the fourth line to make up for the losses.

Paul Gaustad is doubtful for Friday's game against the Leafs because of the flu.
With the swine flu starting to spread around the league, the Sabres will likely play it safe with the veteran and keep him away from the team. Adam Mair practiced in his spot on the fourth line Thursday.
