 Markus Naslund-W - Rangers Nov. 17 - 4:08 pm et

Markus Naslund will lace up his skates again for MoDo in the Swedish Elite League.
"This season, I have followed MoDo from the stands and from the board table," said the formerly retired NHL veteran. "I will do everything in my power to get back in game shape, and I hope I can contribute to the team's success, but I'm sure everybody understands that you can't just jump in and dominate the league. I'm looking forward to playing with Modo again and of course, the fact that Peter [Forsberg] and I can do this together makes it even more special." Naslund attended the same high school as Forsberg in Ornskoldsvik and the pair played together on MoDo for four seasons.

According to Vancouver GM Mike Gillis, Peter Forsberg has decided not to play in the NHL this season.
Forsberg has decided to play for his old team, Modo of the Swedish Elite League. He's reportedly not happy with his performance in the Karjala Cup, an international tournament Forsberg used to test his viability for playing hockey this season. Gillia said that Forsberg ultimately decided against returning to the NHL Monday morning. "He made it because it’s more of a day-to-day thing with his foot as opposed to a situation where he’s confident he can play," Gillis said, "and I think it’s a tribute to him that he didn’t want to put himself in a position where he’s taking a roster spot and not being an everyday player in the NHL — so we just move on, and go to the next step." If things go well for Forsberg in Sweden, he may still attempt to play in the 2010 Winter Olympics.

Peter Forsberg may stay in Sweden this season and play for his old team Modo of the SEL.
Forsberg is not happy with his game at this time and does not want to embarrass himself if he returns to the NHL. Forsberg's MoDo team is in serious financial trouble and he may help out by returning. Former NHLer Markus Naslund is on the board of directors of MoDo and he could possibly return to the team if Forsberg also returns. Stay tuned as it is still possible that Forsberg, who hasn't made up his mind, will return to the NHL to get him ready for his best shot to play for the Swedish Olympic team at the Vancouver Olympics in February.

Peter Forsberg is holding off negotiations with NHL teams until he has tested his ailing foot more in practices.
Forsberg was happy with his play at the Karjala Cup in Finland last week, but still wants to feel more comfortable on his skates before making a final decision about returning to the NHL. Vancouver, Washington, Colorado, Philadelphia and the New York Rangers are believed to be his most interested suitors.

The Ottawa Senators don't consider themselves a serious contender for Peter Forsberg.
GM Bryan Murray isn't sure the Senators could find a way to stay under the cap if they signed Forsberg. It's believed that Forsberg would want a one-year/$4 million deal, but the Senators are currently close to the $56.8 million cap. "He brings a dimension to a team if he’s healthy, but I just don’t know how it would ever work," said Murray. Forsberg still hasn't committed to playing in the NHL this season. However, he did participate in the Karjala Cup in an attempt to determine if he's up to playing. If the Senators were to pull out of the race, that would still leave the New York Rangers, Colorado Avalanche, Vancouver Canucks, Washington Capitals, and Philadelphia Flyers among the teams that have expressed interest in Forsberg.
