Dion Phaneuf was at his physical best against Montreal on Tuesday.
He led the way with several bone-crushing hits and competed hard on every play in a 1-0 Calgary victory. "His game this year has taken another level," said Flames' teammate Jarome Iginla. "Offensively, we're still getting at least the same thing. He's a force out there, controls the power play and gets shots. He and [Robyn Regehr] playing together, that would be a tough group. You always have to keep your head up. If Reggie's not coming at you, Dion's coming at you." Phaneuf looks much more like himself this season after struggling a year ago. He has six goals and 10 points in 16 games, to go along with a plus-2 rating. |
