 Dion Phaneuf-D- FlamesNov. 11 - 8:43 am et
Dion Phaneuf was at his physical best against Montreal on Tuesday.
He led the way with several bone-crushing hits and competed hard on every play in a 1-0 Calgary victory. "His game this year has taken another level," said Flames' teammate Jarome Iginla. "Offensively, we're still getting at least the same thing. He's a force out there, controls the power play and gets shots. He and [Robyn Regehr] playing together, that would be a tough group. You always have to keep your head up. If Reggie's not coming at you, Dion's coming at you." Phaneuf looks much more like himself this season after struggling a year ago. He has six goals and 10 points in 16 games, to go along with a plus-2 rating.

 Sean Avery-W - Rangers Nov. 7 - 5:56 am et

Sean Avery will play in Calgary for the first time since his derogatory comments last season against his former and the Flames Dion Phaneuf's current girlfriend Elisha Cuthbert.
We won't go into what Avery said last season, but he ended up never playing for the Dallas Stars again. Don't be surprised if Phaneuf takes a shot or two at him, especially if the game is out of hand. It will be a good night to own Phaneuf if penalty minutes are a category in your pool. Needless to say, Avery will be booed loudly in Calgary, a phenomenon that is wide-spread throughout the NHL.

 Dion Phaneuf-D - Flames Oct. 26 - 8:31 am et

Dion Phaneuf leads all NHL defenseman with five goals in 10 games.
Phaneuf has also registered four assists to give him nine points this season. Phaneuf had a mediocre 2008-09 season by his standards, setting career-lows last season with 11 goals, 40 points, and a minus-11 plus/minus rating. He also started his 2008-09 campaign with nine points in 10 games, so the question now is if he can build on his hot start this time around.

Dion Phaneuf's offensive flair has returned this campaign.
Phanuef has amassed four goals and seven points in eight games. He is well on his way to rebounding from a disappointing 2008-09 season points-wise. However, his minus-3 rating could still use some improvement.
