NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman met with KHL President Alex Medvedev Wednesday night.
The NHL and KHL's relationship has been tense at best, but Bettman described the meeting as being "cordial and constructive." At the top of the NHL's agenda is getting the KHL to agree to a transfer agreement, which would prevent KHL teams from snatching players that are still under NHL contracts. "The fact is, we do respect contracts and have consistently," Bettman said, "and the KHL has not." The two leagues have not set any sort of timeline for further discussions, it does sound like the two leagues will continue to search for some common ground. Source: Washington Post
