Wings' coach Mike Babcock decided to go with Jimmy Howard in goal again despite the fact that he has struggled a bit of late.
Howard has started 21 of Detroit's last 23 games, but he has just three wins in his past 11. "We think Howie gives us the best opportunity", Babcock said. "People are allowed to look at it any way they want. Me, I just want to win tonight's game." News like that does not bode well for backup Chris Osgood, as he likely will not see many starts for the remainder of the campaign for the Red Wings.

It was Howard's eighth loss in his last 11 contests.

Jimmy Howard was saddled with his 13th loss of the season as the Red Wings fell to the Kings 4-3 on Saturday afternoon.
Howard kicked away only 23 of the 27 shots that he faced in Saturday night's contest. He has allowed nine goals in three February contests while maintaining a .901 save percentage during that span. Howard has currently entrenched himself as the Red Wings' number one goaltender, but with a few more sub-par performances, like tonight's, Chris Osgood could find himself garnering a few more starts.
