Niclas Wallin will be back in the Hurricanes' lineup on Wednesday night, so a roster spot needed to be purged for his arrival. Harrison has skated in 18 games this season, posting five points, a minus-7 rating and 29 penalty minutes.

The Hurricanes recalled Jay Harrison from the minors.
Harrison had one goal and three points in a 10-game stint with Carolina earlier this season. He had one goal and eight points in 15 games with Albany of the AHL. He has little NHL fantasy value.

Jay Harrison has successfully cleared waivers.
Carolina has reassigned Harrison to AHL Albany. The Hurricanes signed Harrison to a one-year, two-way deal in the off-season, but the team is looking to shake things up after a disastrous 2-8-3 start to the season. "I thought adding some players would make the team better, but it hasn't," GM Jim Rutherford said. "Maybe we have too many veterans." This could just be the tip of the iceberg as Rutherford continues to try and turn things around. Harrison had three points and 27 penalty minutes in 10 games this season.

Harrison will help to fill the void left by Joni Pitkanen, who is out with a knee injury. He has a goal and 13 penalty minutes in four games with Carolina.

Jussi Jokinen scored a goal and tallied two assists in Friday night's 7-2 victory over Florida Friday night.
