The Devils assigned Cory Murphy to their minor league affiliate.
Murphy has two goals and three points in 11 games with the Devils this season, but just hasn't won the confidence of coach Jacques Lemaire. It looks like the former European league star will forever be bouncing between the NHL and the minors.

Brian Rolston scored the game-winning goal as the Devils defeated the Islanders 2-1 Friday night.
Rolston’s fourth goal of the season came on the power play in the second period. Cory Murphy scored the other goal for the Devils while, Ilkka Pikkarainen recorded his first career NHL point drawing an assist on the Murphy marker.

Johnny Oduya will not play Saturday against Tampa.
He sustained a lower body injury against in Thursday's game against Buffalo and will not play again until next week at the earliest. Cory Murphy will take his place in the Devils' lineup.

The New Jersey Devils have recalled Cory Murphy from the minors.
Murphy will help the Devils out while Paul Martin is sidelined with a forearm injury. Murphy will probably serve as the team's seventh defenseman and he won't have any fantasy value in that role.

Murphy has been assigned to AHL Lowell. He had no points and a minus-one plus/minus rating in three games.

The New Jersey Devils have placed Cory Murphy on waivers.
Devils GM Lou Lamoriello expects Murphy to clear waivers so he can be sent down to AHL Lowell. Murphy had no points and a minus-one plus/minus rating in three games with the Devils. "I don't think it's been a struggle for him. I think he's put too much pressure on himself to do well," Lamoriello said. "He had an excellent training camp. No question he can play. He's a good defenseman. I'm sure he'll be back."
