Steve Mason will get the start in goal on Saturday.
Mathieu Garon was supposed to get the start on Saturday but coach Ken Hitchcock was very happy with Mason's performance on Thursday when he stopped 25 of 26 shots in a 3-1 win over Detroit. Mason is now 8-5-2 with a 3.49 GAA and a .884 save percentage. He will look to improve on those numbers against Nashville as he has been a fantasy dud for most of this season.

 Steve Mason-G - Blue Jackets Nov. 19 - 8:37 am et

Steve Mason will be back in goal for Columbus on Thursday.
Mason has not played since giving up eight goals on November 11 to Detroit. He will attempt to turn around his lackluster season against the Stars. "He needs to get back in and get some wind in his sails," coach Ken Hitchcock said. "He played four great games (in a row) and he, like our team, had a stinker." Get him back in your lineup as Mason should turn his game around, starting tonight.

Steve Mason is expected to start in Thursday's game against Dallas.
Mason's early season struggles seemed to come to a head on November 11th when he stopped just 19 of 27 shots in a 9-1 blowout loss. Backup goaltender Mathieu Garon started in both of the two games that have followed and Columbus won both of those games 3-2. Although Mason will get a chance to redeem himself on Thursday, Blue Jackets coach Ken Hitchcock has already publicly penciled in Garon for Saturday's game, so there's clearly a goaltending controversy in Columbus. Mason is very talented and should develop into a top-tier goaltender, but he needs to rebound quickly to avoid losing the number one gig this season.

Steve Mason didn't skate with Columbus on Monday due to back spasms.
Mason is still expected to serve as Mathieu Garon's backup Monday. Garon was the probable goaltender anyways after leading Columbus to a 3-2 shootout victory over Anaheim on Monday.

 Mathieu Garon-G - Blue Jackets Nov. 15 - 10:33 am et

Mathieu Garon will be back between the pipes for the Blue Jackets on Monday versus the Edmonton Oilers.
He played very well in Friday's 3-2 win over Anaheim, making 32 stops in regulation and overtime before blocking both Ducks' shootout attempts to secure the victory. Coach Ken Hitchcock wants to reward Garon for his play with a second straight start, meaning Steve Mason will watch from the end of the bench again as the backup.

The starting goaltender for Monday's contest is up in the air in Columbus.
The Blue Jackets do not play on the weekend and while it was thought that Steve Mason would get the start, Mathieu Garon's performance on Friday will give him consideration. Mason has been awful of late and Garon at this time gives the Blue Jackets the best chance to win. Stay tuned.
