Max Pacioretty has a real shot of making the Canadiens' opening day roster despite some steep competition.
The Canadiens enter training camp with 11 forwards and seven defenseman already locked up to one-way contracts. That doesn't leave much room for Pacioretty to make the team and he'll have to battle Kyle Chipchura, Matt D’Agostini, Gregory Stewart, and Ben Maxwell in training camp. However, Pacioretty has a bit of an upper hand after scoring three goals and 11 points in 34 NHL games last season. Pacioretty is hoping to contribute more offensively in 2009-10 spent most of the off-season doing strength training. The 6-foot-2, 192 pound forward reportedly reduced his body fat from 14% to 6% over the course of the summer. Source: Montreal Gazette
