The Devils needed to make room for Rob Niedermayer, who is ready to return from a shoulder injury. Sestito had one assist in nine games with the Devils.

Tim Sestito appeared in his first game of the season, and second of his NHL career, on Saturday.
He garnered just 8:53 of ice time, while finishing the game with a minus-1 rating and one shot on goal.

New Jersey has sent Tim Sestito to AHL Lowell.
Sestito successfully cleared waivers on Wednesday. He might eventually break into the NHL as a fourth line forward.

New Jersey has placed Tim Sestito on waivers Tuesday.
New Jersey plans to send Sestito to AHL Lowell if he clears waivers. He always had an uphill battle ahead of him to make the Devils roster and the recent signing of Rob Niedermayer didn't help. He had eight goals and 77 penalty minutes in 51 AHL games last season.

Tim Sestito is battling for the Devils' final center spot on the roster for this season.
The recent signing off unrestricted free agent Rob Niedermayer did not help his cause to make the club out of camp, but he is still hopeful he can stick around and not be demoted to the minors. Sestito and Rod Pelley are likely competing for the position. Stay tuned.

Tim Sestito isn't expected to play in the NHL next season.
The Devils acquired Sestito from the Edmonton Oilers for a 2010 conditional draft pick. However, it looks like the Devils are primarily looking for Sestito to serve as something of a veteran presence in the AHL. "He will help the young kids that are down in the minors," GM Lou Lamoriello said. "The future considerations are if he plays in the NHL."
