The Red Wings are planning to activate Johan Franzen (knee) on Tuesday.
Detroit moved winger Ville Leino on Saturday to Philadelphia for defenseman Ole-Kristian Tollefsen and a fifth-round pick to make room for Franzen on their roster. Get ready to have him back in your lineup.

Ole-Kristian Tollefsen has been placed on waivers by the Red Wings.
If he clears he will be assigned to Grand Rapids in the AHL. Detroit traded forward Ville Leino in exchange for Tollefsen, and a fifth-round pick, on Saturday to make room for the pending return of Johan Franzen to their lineup.

The Red Wings have traded winger Ville Leino to Philadelphia for defenseman Ole-Kristian Tollefsen.
Leino is expected to join the Flyers for their game Saturday against the Wild and will likely line up on the team's third or fourth line. The 26-year-old forward may even get a break and get some power play ice time. "Ville is a skilled forward that is going to give us some depth, Flyers general manager Paul Holmgren said. "I think he has the ability to play up and down our lineup and play with our skilled players. We're excited to have him." Keep an eye on Leino to see what kind of role he will play in Philly.

The Flyers have traded rugged defenseman Ole-Kristian Tollefsen to Detroit for forward Ville Leino.
The 25-year-old rearguard will add some toughness to the Red Wing blueline. He certainly wasn't getting much of an opportunity in Philly so this trade can't hurt his fantasy value.

Ville Leino is one of a few Detroit Red Wings who could get demoted when injured players start returning.
The Red Wings still have Niklas Kronwall, Johan Franzen, Tomas Holmstrom and Jason Williams out of action and when they return, the team will be around $1.5 million over the salary cap. Drew Miller and Justin Abdelkader still have some minor league options left, but then it gets close for Leino as he could be next in line. He has struggled mightily this season with only four goals and seven points in 41 games. He is also minus-nine. He is not worth owning in fantasy pools at this time and at age 26 could be headed out of Detroit in a trade at the deadline.

 Tomas Holmstrom-W - Red Wings Jan. 7 - 8:47 pm et  

Tomas Holmstrom will be out of action for the next three-four weeks with a broken foot.
Holmstrom suffered the injury during practice on Wednesday. "He was out after practice like he always is, working on redirecting shots from the blue line," GM Ken Holland said. "One of the shots hit him on the foot. We had quick X-rays taken and sent to our doctors in Detroit and they confirmed the non-displaced fracture. It's obviously very disappointing to have a freak injury like that after practice when a guy is just putting in extra work." Look for Ville Leino to get back in the lineup on Thursday and he could see first line duty alongside Pavel Datsyuk and Henril Zetterberg.
