Columbus GM Scott Howson will watch Nikita Filatov play at the World Junior Championships in Saskatchewan this week.
Howson said that he will talk to Filatov but it will be friendly and not hockey-related. Filatov, one of the most talented young players not in the NHL at this time, returned to Russia after playing with the Blue Jackets at the beginning of the season. He was unhappy with the ice time he saw because coach Ken Hitchcock would not give him a proper chance to play and is unlikely to return while Hitchcock is still in charge. Howson said that there was no way they were trading Filatov, so you have to wonder who will win this power play, as the Blue Jackets want Filatov playing in the NHL next season and not the KHL. Stay tuned as Filatov has 14 points in 12 KHL games this season. Source: Columbus Dispatch
