
Coach Todd McLellan split up his top line of Joe Thornton, Dany Heatley and Patrick Marleau after the second period on Wednesday.
The trio were a combined minus-11 in the 7-2 loss to Chicago with Thornton and Heatley being minus-four apiece. Steve Zalewski got some time on the top line in the third with Thornton and Heatley while Marleau played with Manny Malhotra and Ryane Clowe. McLellan played Marleau, Thornton and Heatley, along with Dan Boyle and Joe Pavelski on the top power play unit, even in the final stanza. Source: San Jose Mercury News
