Matt Duchene is making a strong case for himself to earn the NHL's top rookie honor, the Calder Trophy, at the end of the season.
He currently leads all first-year players with 37 points in 55 games and is tied with Islanders' forward John Tavares for the most goals with 17. Duchene has picked up steam of late, while Tavares has been slumping. Buffalo defenseman Tyler Myers, who was just named the NHL's rookie of the month for January, is a top contender for the Calder as well. Should be a great race to the finish. Source: Denver Post
