 Nazem Kadri-C- Maple LeafsFeb. 9 - 11:12 am et
The Leafs called up Nazem Kadri on an emergency basis prior to Monday's game against San Jose.
The Leafs found themselves two players short when both Christian Hanson and Fredrik Sjostrom fell ill. They called up Andre Deveaux from the AHL Marlies, but calling up another player would've left the AHL squad's roster depleted, so Toronto called Kadri up from the OHL. Kadri was on the ice for 17:26 minutes in his NHL debut on Monday. He finished the game with no points and a minus-one plus/minus rating. Kadri is the Leafs' top prospect, but we wouldn't expect much from him in 2009-10.

 Nazem Kadri-C - Maple Leafs Sep. 27 - 2:21 pm et

Nazem Kadri was returned to junior on Sunday.
He will suit up for the London Knights of the OHL this season despite looking impressive during training camp. Kadri posted two goals and three assists in six preseason contests, while adding a solid plus-6 rating. "If he goes back to junior, I'd be shocked if he didn't get 100 points in the OHL with his hockey sense, his speed," said Leafs' coach Ron Wilson last week. "He really believes in himself." Look for Kadri to bulk up and make the Toronto roster next year. Keep him in mind for 2010-11 and have him on your radar in keeper leagues.

Nazem Kadri has done very well in training camp, but he's still expected to be returned to junior hockey.
Kadri scored the game-tying goal with 1:08 minutes remaining in regulation time in Tuesday's game against Pittsburgh. He then scored again in the shootout to help the Leafs defeat the Penguins. However, his performance on Tuesday didn't tip the scales in his favor. "I didn't think it was one of Nazem's better games, to be honest," coach Ron Wilson said. "But it only takes special players like him one moment to change the outcome. He got a loose puck and buried it. If he goes back to junior, I'd be shocked if he didn't get 100 points. He and (Tyler) Bozak can eventually be magical players for us. But I only have spots for 23 players. Have they stolen anyone's job? Not in my estimation. Last year would have been a different story."

Nazem Kadri scored late to force overtime and again in the shootout, pushing the Maple Leafs past the Pittsburgh Penguins 3-2 Tuesday night.
The speedy 18-year-old has raised some eyebrows this preseason, but is still a long shot to crack the roster. Vesa Toskala stopped 26 of 28 shots in a chippy game with a few scraps. Mike Komisarek should please owners looking for PIM this year. He picked up 7 in this one. Viktor Stahlberg also potted a goal.

Despite a strong showing so far, Nazem Kadri will be returning to his junior team in London very soon.
He won't make the team unless he can play on the top two lines. Unfortunately for Kadri, many more experienced players have played well enough to lay claim to the top six positions on the club. Kadri will be a very good fantasy player. It just won't be this season.

Nazem Kadri scored one of two first period goals against Philadelphia on Thursday night.
The Maple Leafs are currently leading the Flyers 2-0 at the end of the first period. It was Kadri's first NHL goal, and we're betting that there are going to be many more. Lee Stempniak has the other goal for the Buds.
