Sergei Gonchar (leg) will be a game time decision on Thursday.
Gonchar practiced on Thursday alongside Brooks Orpik. Stay tuned as this will be the first regular season game for Gonchar against the Capitals Alex Ovechkin, since Ovechkin injured Gonchar with a knee-on-knee hit in last spring's playoff Conference semi-final series.

Contract talks between the Pittsburgh Penguins and Sergei Gonchar are expected to pick up over the next few weeks.
Gonchar is scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent this summer. The two sides began preliminary talks during training camp, but they agreed to postpone negotiations until after January 1st. Gonchar's agent, JP Barry, is now expected to meet with his client on Saturday before talking to GM Ray Shero. "We haven't really agreed on terms or dollar aspect, but the time for that is soon," Barry said. We'll keep you posted.

He scored two goals and added an assist in 19:14 of ice time. Activate him immediately.

Sergei Gonchar scored two goals and added an assist in Pittsburgh's 4-1 win over Toronto Saturday night.
Gonchar scored two goals in the second period to help the Penguins' snap a season-high five-game losing streak that started with a Dec. 26 loss to these same Maple Leafs. Bill Guerin had a goal and assist. Sidney Crosby registered the other Pittsburgh marker.

The Penguins remain hopeful that Sergei Gonchar (foot) will be able to play on the team's five-game road trip that starts Saturday night in Toronto.
Consider Gonchar probable for Saturday's contest. We would take the chance and activate him.
