Contract talks between the Pittsburgh Penguins and Sergei Gonchar are expected to pick up over the next few weeks.
Gonchar is scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent this summer. The two sides began preliminary talks during training camp, but they agreed to postpone negotiations until after January 1st. Gonchar's agent, JP Barry, is now expected to meet with his client on Saturday before talking to GM Ray Shero. "We haven't really agreed on terms or dollar aspect, but the time for that is soon," Barry said. We'll keep you posted. Source: Pittsburgh Tribune-Review
