Matt Duchene admitted to being a slow starter on Monday, in the midst of his current offensive dry spell.
"Seasons always go like this for me," Duchene said. "At the beginning of seasons, I start off pretty slow. I'm usually playing well, but the points are the last things to come. I'm just going to keep plugging away. I'm getting some nice chances and creating some nice plays, and they'll start going in." The Colorado rookie had six points in his first 10 games, but has collected just one goal in 10 games since then. The Avalanche will continue to use him in key situations though despite his struggles offensively, as he is projected to center a line between Darcy Tucker and Milan Hejduk on Tuesday night.
