Olli Jokinen is playing the point on the Rangers' first power-play unit alongside Michael Del Zotto.
He registered a goal and an assist with the man advantage Thursday against the Captials so look for Ranger coach John Tortorella to leave him there Saturday against the Devils. Jokinen may yet salvage a disappointing season.

Vaclav Prospal scored two goals and added two assists in New York's 6-5 loss to Washington Thursday night.
Prospal's four-point night gives him 13 goals and 47 points in 52 games this season. Olli Jokinen scored one goal and assisted on another in his Rangers' debut. Marian Gaborik finished with two helpers.

Olli Jokinen skated on a line with Brandon Dubinsky and Ryan Callahan Thursday morning.
Are the Rangers already giving up on having Jokinen play alongside Marian Gaborik? Rangers coach John Tortorella said that he hasn't decided on the lines for Thursday's game, but it seems odd that Tortorella would split the pair up in if his intention was to try and get them to develop some on-ice chemistry. Jokinen never meshed well with Calgary's Jarome Iginla and it's possible that he'll have similar problems with Gaborik.

Olli Jokinen showed little chemistry with Marian Gaborik Tuesday.
Sound familiar? Jokinen never found his groove in Calgary with Jarome Iginla and the two were eventually separated because Jokinen was actually bringing Iginla's game down. It's not that Jokinen is a bad player, but he's a center that likes to hold onto the puck. Gaborik is also like that, but it's better if he has the puck than Jokinen. Erik Christensen replaced Jokinen on the top line in the third period and set up Gaborik for a nice goal. The Rangers won't give up on the Jokinen-Gaborik combination, but expectations must be tempered.

Olli Jokinen was traded to the New York Rangers late on Monday night, with forward Brandon Prust, in exchange for Christopher Higgins and Ales Kotalik.
The deal was rumored to be near completion on Sunday, but it was finalized just after the Flames' 3-0 loss to the Flyers on Monday. Jokinen did not perform up to expectations in Calgary and he never meshed with captain Jarome Iginla like the team had hoped. He has registered 11 goals and 35 points in 56 games this season. Perhaps, Jokinen will have better luck clicking with Rangers' star winger Marian Gaborik, should he get a chance to play alongside him.

Jay Bouwmeester led the Flames in ice time with 25:14 as they lost to Philadelphia 3-0 Monday.
Bouwmeester, Adam Pardy, Rene Bourque, and Olli Jokinen all finished tied for the lead in shots with 3. Calgary is on a miserable slump having lost 12 out of their last 14 games.
