Chris Mason let in five goals on 15 shots against the Avalanche in a 5-2 loss Monday night.
After a good performance against the Chicago Blackhawks, in which he stopped 28 of 30 shots on Saturday, Mason struggled mightily versus Colorado and was pulled early in the second period. Ty Conklin entered the game in relief, defending all 18 shots he faced.

Chris Mason turned aside 28 of the 30 shots that he faced from the Blackhwaks in St. Louis' 2-1 loss Saturday night.
Mason's record now drops to 17-16-8 on the season. He posted mind-boggling 2.10 GAA and .924 save percentage post-all-star numbers last season to help guide the Blues into a post-season berth. He'll need to pull off a similar type of performance this year if the Blues hope to make it back-to-back playoff appearances.

Mason stopped 32 shots to extend his unbeaten in regulation streak to four games. The Blues' starting netminder is 2-0-2 over that span, improving to 17-15-8 on the campaign.

Mason allowed three goals on just 19 Columbus shots for the fourth loss in his last five starts. Mason has allowed three or more goals in each of the losses, the lone exception a win over the last place Edmonton Oilers.

Chris Mason held off the Blues in Thursday’s 2-1 victory over the Oilers.
Mason kicked aside 24 of 25 shots. He improves to 16-15-7 on the season. His streaky play is holding him back from being a top notch goaltender.

Ty Conklin made 31 saves in the Blues 3-2 loss to the Vancouver Canucks Wednesday night.
Conklin also played on Monday, and earned the consecutive start by shutting out the Calgary Flames. Chris Mason should continue to get the bulk of the starts, but the Blues backup is usually a good play when he gets the nod between the pipes.
