Maxim Afinogenov scored the game-winner Tuesday night in Atlanta’s 2-1 win over Anaheim.
This was Afinogenov’s 17th of the season. He is clearly enjoying his resurgent season in Atlanta. Colby Armstrong also scored for the Thrashers, his ninth of the year.

Pavel Kubina is one of 10 unrestricted free agents on Atlanta's roster who may be dealt over the next six weeks.
Ilya Kovalchuk, as everyone knows, is the most prominent player on this list. However, the Thrashers will have to make a number of other difficult decisions as to whether to retain or trade Kubina, Maxim Afinogenov, Johan Hedberg and Slava Kozlov. Other players who could leave Dixie via a trade are Colby Armstrong, Jim Slater, Christoph Schubert, Mark Popovic and Eric Boulton. GM Don Waddell will no doubt be a busy man over the next two months.

Maxim Afinogenov scored Atlanta's only goal in a 8-1 loss to Washington Saturday night.
The marker was the 16th of the season for Afinogenov. Pavel Kubina and Tobias Enstrom assisted.

Ilya Kovalchuk scored one goal and added three assists in the Thrashers' 6-5 shootout loss to the Islanders Saturday night.
The goal, which came on the powerplay at 11:23 of the third period to tie the game at 5-5, give’s Kovalchuk markers in nine of the Thrashers’ past twelve games. The Russian winger also has ten assists over that span to raise his season totals to 25 goals and 22 assists in 35 games this season. Maxim Afinogenov snapped a three-game pointless streak with two goals and two assists in the win. Tobias Enstrom finished with three assists.

Ilya Kovalchuk extended his point streak to eight games with two points Wednesday.
He has five goals and 12 points during the streak. The Thrashers finally found a number one line with exceptional chemistry - Nik Antropov is a natural playmaker after struggling in the goal scorer's role in Toronto while Maxim Afinogenov returned from dead after leaving Buffalo. Of course, Kovalchuk ties it together.

Maxim Afinogenov scored once and assisted on two in the Thrashers' 6-4 loss to the Bruins Wednesday.
Ilya Kovalchuk also had a good games collecting two points, with one goal and one assist. Evander Kane and Bryan Little were the other Atlanta goal scorers.
