Valtteri Filppula had two assists in the Red Wings’ 3-2 loss to Washington Tuesday night,
Filppula assisted on goals by Dan Cleary and Brian Rafalski.

Todd Bertuzzi scored in a 3-2 shootout loss to Dallas.
Brian Rafalaski had the other Red Wing goal while Nicklas Lidstrom and Henrik Zetterberg had two assists each. Unfortunately, the Red Wings failed to score on six attempts in the shootout.

Jamie Langenbrunner will serve as Team USA's captain in the 2012 Winter Olympics.
Zach Parise, Ryan Suter, Dustin Brown, and Brian Rafalski are the alternate captains. Langenbrunner is one of just three players with Olympic experience on America's squad. He has 13 goals and 40 points in 43 games this season.

Tomas Holmstrom recorded two goals in Detroit's 4-1 win over Phoenix Saturday night.
The two markers ended a five-game pointless drought for the veteran winger. Pavel Datsyuk finished with a goal and an assist. Nicklas Lidstrom and Brian Rafalski each registered two helpers.

Brian Rafalski has been named to the United States Olympic team.
Rafalski will be a veteran presence on the youthful American team. Paul Martin, Ryan Suter, Mike Komisarek, Erik Johnson, Jack Johnson and Brooks Orpik were also named to the defensive corps. The Americans are a bit light compared to other elite nations in the Olympics but the two Johnson's will gain valuable experience for future Olympics.
