The NHL is investigating FSN Pittsburgh for withholding a replay which showed Simon Gagne scoring a shorthanded goal against the Penguins on Thursday.
Gagne's goal was reviewed and the league said the replays were inconclusive and therefore the goal did not count. However, a FSN Pittsburgh showed a replay to its viewers a few minutes later that proved that Gagne had scored. One of the Penguins broadcasters told the viewers, "Oh, we saved that one [replay]!" The replay was not sent until after play had resumed and at that point it was too late to reverse the call. Gary Meagher, the NHL's senior vice president of public relations, said FSN did not have the right to choose which replays it sent. "At the heart of the matter is the integrity of the system," said Meagher. Source: Philadelphia Inquirer & Daily News
