Laurence Maroney got just one carry in the Patriots' Wild Card round loss, gaining two yards.
So much for the heavy workload Maroney predicted; Kevin Faulk was the Pats' primary back as they played from behind, operating almost strictly out of the shotgun. Maroney showed promise in stretches during the year, scoring a career-high nine TDs. Four fumbles lost cost him lots of playing time down the stretch, however, and his 3.9 yards-per-carry average was unimpressive. Maroney will return for his contract season in 2010 without a defined role. |
