Lions beat reporter Tom Kowalski writes that, according to "everything I've heard," Calvin Johnson won't be traded this offseason.
The Lions could probably land an impressive haul for Johnson, but their offseason will be geared toward preparing Matthew Stafford to be the best quarterback he can be. Obviously, trading their hands-down best weapon would be detrimental to Stafford's progress. Calvin isn't going anywhere.

Lions offensive coordinator Scott Linehan observed that opponents used triple coverage to slow Calvin Johnson late in the year.
In addition to a cornerback, Linehan said "They'll use a linebacker and the safety who is supposed to be playing half the field" to neutralize Johnson. Linehan hopes to find an offensive "eraser" capable of mitigating triple teams, "whether it's the run game or another receiver, a slot guy or whatever," adding "that's going to be a big part of our goals in the offseason."

Calvin Johnson caught six passes for 86 yards and one touchdown in Week 17 against the Bears.
Compared to last season Johnson caught 11 fewer passes, saw his per-catch average drop from 17.1 to 14.7 and went from 12 touchdowns to five. Of course, he also missed two games with an injury and had a rookie, Drew Stanton and Daunte Culpepper throwing to him, so it's tough to blame Megatron too much for the decline in production.

Calvin Johnson caught seven passes for 96 yards and added two rushes for 32 yards against the 49ers in Week 16.
Getting the ball in Calvin's hands was the only thing working for the Lions offense this week. He ran the ball twice on the game's first drive and was targeted a team-high 12 times on the afternoon. Regardless of the quarterback, Johnson is too talented to sit against the Bears in Week 17.

Calvin Johnson (knee) has participated in a full practice all week.
Johnson gets only a modest bump with a raw Drew Stanton taking over for an ineffective Daunte Culpepper. We have Calvin ranked as the No. 22 fantasy option at receiver this week.

The Cardinals kept double coverage on Calvin Johnson for most of the game Sunday.
Corners Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie and Bryant McFadden almost always had help over the top from safety Antrel Rolle. It's nothing new for Calvin, so we won't chalk up his poor outing to that. Without a quarterback that can get the ball in tight spots accurately, Megatron's production will suffer.
