Orioles signed OF Jeff Salazar to a minor league contract.
He'll also get an invite to Spring Training. Salazar, 29, was 1-for-23 (.046) in 21 games for the Pirates last season, but batted .270/.334/.406 with 10 home runs, 39 RBI and 16 stolen bases for Triple-A Indianapolis. He isn't expected to compete for a roster spot during Spring Training and should settle in at Triple-A Norfolk as organizational depth.

Pirates sent outfielder Jeff Salazar outright to Triple-A Indianapolis.
Salazar was designated for assignment last week and drew little interest from opposing clubs. He had a .043/.154/.043 batting line, one RBI and seven strikeouts in 23 at-bats with the Pirates this season.

Salazar spent about a month with the club, amassing just 23 at-bats for a disappointing .043/.154/.043 line. He appears ticketed for a trip back to Triple-A Indianapolis.

Andrew McCutchen is out of the starting lineup on Wednesday.
The rookie had started 54 consecutive games since being called up from Triple-A, but was suffering from headaches after being hit by Arizona first baseman Chad Tracy while trying to beat out a grounder on Tuesday. Jeff Salazar gets the start in center, with shortstop Ronny Cedeno taking over the leadoff spot. McCutchen is expected to return to action on Thursday.

Pirates purchased the contract of OF Jeff Salazar from Triple-A Indianapolis.
Salazar hit .265/.323/.415 with 10 home runs and 36 RBI in 76 games at the Triple-A level this season. He'll find a decent amount of playing time with the Pirates now that Nyjer Morgan is off the roster, but may only be useful in the deepest of NL-only leagues.

Jeff Salazar will be called on Wednesday to take the roster spot of Nyjer Morgan, who was dealt to the Nationals in a four-player trade.
The 28-year-old failed to make the big league roster out of spring training despite an impressive stat line. He's hit .265/.323/.415 with 10 home runs and 36 RBI in 76 games with Triple-A Indianapolis this season and will see a good amount of playing time in the Pittsburgh outfield until Lastings Milledge is called up.
