Diamondbacks released RHP Tom Gordon.
Gordon looked terrible during a rehab assignment with the Triple-A Reno Aces. He could latch on with another club desperate for bullpen depth, or the 41-year-old may decide to call it quits.

Tom Gordon (hamstring) has allowed 10 runs and 11 walks in 5 1/3 innings during an ongoing rehab assignment with Triple-A Reno.
Gordon will not be activated from the disabled list until he proves he can pitch effectively in the minor leagues. "As his rehab winds down, there is a performance-based side where we'd like him to throw more strikes," manager A.J. Hinch said. Flash is no longer working against a rehabilitation timetable.

Tom Gordon (hamstring) surrendered three earned runs in 1/3 inning Monday during a rehab appearance with Triple-A Reno.
Flash has walked 10 batters and allowed nine earned runs in 4 1/3 innings during his current rehab assignment. "He still needs to refine his command and show some consistency," Diamondbacks manager A.J. Hinch said Monday night. "We're confident he's going to do it."

Tom Gordon tossed a scoreless inning Friday for Triple-A Reno.
Gordon is finally about ready to rejoin the Diamondbacks. He tossed eight of his 13 pitches for strikes on Friday and could be activated as soon as Wednesday. He's thrown just 1 2/3 major league innings this year.

Tom Gordon gave up three runs on three hits and two walks in one-third of an inning Tuesday night in a rehab outing with Triple-A Reno.
Flash has allowed a total of six earned runs and eight walks in three rehab innings. Needless to say, return does not appear imminent "He scuffled with his command again," D'Backs manager A.J. Hinch said. "He said he feels fine, but his fastball command has been pretty bad. We formulated a new plan for him to get a few extra outings. We certainly want him to be sharp."

Tom Gordon (hamstring) is scheduled to throw his live second batting practice session on Friday.
Given no setbacks, Gordon is expected to begin a minor league rehab assignment next week. He has been out since May 3 due to a strained left hamstring.
