With Marlon Byrd bound for Chicago, the Rangers are looking to bolster to the middle of their lineup, reports T.R. Sullivan of MLB.com.
"We'd like to add a presence in the lineup," said Rangers general manager Jon Daniels. "We'd like to add at least one bat, if not potentially two. We may still do something on the pitching side, but we're focused more on the hitting side right now." Texas would prefer a right-handed bat, but would consider a left-handed bat at the right price. It isn't known who the Rangers are pursuing, but Sullivan floats Jermaine Dye, Vladimir Guerrero, Xavier Nady, Carlos Delgado and Gary Sheffield, among others, as possibilities. Source: MLB.com
