Chris Iannetta believes he will get a "large volume" of starts behind the plate for the Rockies this season.
The Royals signed former Royals catcher Miguel Olivo this offseason to push Iannetta, who finished the '09 season slowly. "If I am playing like I expect to, I will be in there," Iannetta said Monday. "I want to play a large volume of the games and let my performance speak for itself." The 26-year-old batted .228/.344/.460 with 16 home runs and 52 RBI in 289 at-bats last year.

Troy Renck of the Denver Post reports that the club option on Miguel Olivo's new contract with the Rockies will become a player option if he plays in more than 110 games this season.
There were earlier reports that this would be a vesting option for a second year, however he would simply have the option to return at $2.5 million. Olivo, 31, will make $2 million next season with a $500,000 buyout on the second year, guaranteeing him $2.5 million.

As part of his new contract with the Rockies, catcher Miguel Olivo has a vesting option for 2011.
Olivo, 31, signed a one-year, $2.5 million contract with the Rockies to compete for the starting backstop job with Chris Iannetta. Should he start "roughly 105 games," he would make an additional $500,000 in incentives and his $2.5 million mutual option for 2011 would vest. Of course, the odds of this happening are pretty slim unless Iannetta sustains an injury.

Rockies signed C Miguel Olivo to a one-year, $2.5 million contract with a club option for 2011.
The club option for 2011 can become a mutual option if he reaches a specified amount of games played. Olivo, 31, hit .249/.292/.490 with a career-high 23 home runs and 65 RBI last season and will battle for starting duties with Chris Iannetta. The Rockies are his sixth different team.

MLB.com's Thomas Harding reports that the Rockies have reached agreement on a one-year contract with a 2011 option for catcher Miguel Olivo.
That officially ends Yorvit Torrealba's tenure in Colorado. Olivo, 31, hit .249/.292/.490 with a career-high 23 home runs and 65 RBI last season and will battle for starting duties with Chris Iannetta in 2010. A straight platoon obviously wouldn't be good for fantasy purposes.

Tracy Ringolsby of FOXSports.com reports that the Rockies are attempting to work out final details on a contract with free agent catcher Miguel Olivo.
The Rockies have moved on after efforts to re-sign Yorvit Torrealba reached a stalemate. Olivo, 31, batted .249/.292/.490 with a career-high 23 home runs and 65 RBI last season. With production like that, it's not immediately clear if he'd be any cheaper than Torrealba, but outside of the Giants and Mets there aren't many starting gigs available. Olivo earned $2.7 million in 2009.
