Luke Hochevar was lit up for seven runs and three homers in three innings by the Twins on Sunday.
Just how did this kid strike out 22 over back-to-back starts in July? He even threw a shutout against the White Sox on Sept. 18, yet he allowed at least least five runs in six of his final seven starts to finish up 7-13 with a 6.55 ERA. The Royals will continue to stand by him, but that shouldn't include promising him a spot in the 2010 rotation.

Luke Hochevar was torched by the Yankees for eight runs on 12 hits over six innings on Monday night.
Hochevar has been quite the enigma this year. He's had a few truly brilliant outings, but for the most part he's been dreadful as his 7-12 record and 6.24 ERA will attest. If the Royals could find a way to get him straightened out, they have a chance to boast a pretty potent rotation next season.

Luke Hochevar hurled a complete-game shutout in an 11-0 win over the White Sox on Friday night.
It's about time. The win, his first since July 25, broke a seven-game personal losing streak. Hochevar allowed only three measly singles while fanning five and walking one. It was his second complete game of the season (he also had one on June 12), but this was his first career complete game shutout.

Luke Hochevar was hammered for five earned runs over five innings Saturday evening in a loss to the Indians.
Hochevar entered the game with an 8.12 ERA in his last eight starts, and only hurt his situation. He's now 6-10 on the season and shouldn't be trusted in any fantasy format next week against the White Sox.

Luke Hochevar was told he has been tipping his pitches and has been working to correct the problem.
Hochevar has a 8.12 ERA in his last eight starts after turning heads in July with his improved play. It remains to be seen if the culprit really is pitch-tipping, but at this point any change is good for the former No. 1 pick. The right-hander will oppose Cleveland Saturday.

Luke Hochevar lasted just 3 2/3 innings and gave up seven runs Sunday in a loss to the Angels.
He's now 0-6 with an 8.12 ERA in eight starts since whatever it was that inhabited his body and allowed him to fan 22 in back-to-back outings against the Rays and Rangers in July returned to its home galaxy. Perhaps the Royals will have him skip a start and see if the time off does him any good.
