The Angels and 2B Howie Kendrick avoided arbitration Tuesday by agreeing to a one-year, $1.75 million contract.
The deal also contains some performance-based bonuses. Kendrick batted .291/.334/.444 last season with 10 home runs, 21 doubles and 11 stolen bases in 374 at-bats while battling for playing time with Maicer Izturis. We're expecting a similar situation and similar results this year.

Ed Price of AOL Fanhouse reports the Angels may be shopping some of their infielders this winter in an attempt to address other needs.
The Angels need to find a corner outfielder and would like to add a few reliable arms to their bullpen. Erick Ayabar is considered untouchable, but the Halos could very well be fielding offers for Maicer Izturis and Howie Kendrick. Izturis, 29, hit .300/.359/.434 in 387 at-bats this season.

Howie Kendrick is in the starting lineup for Game 6 of the ALCS on Saturday.
Mike Scioscia opted for Maicer Izturis over Kendrick in Game 5. Kendrick is batting .313 (5-for-16) with one home run, one triple and four runs scored in the postseason. He homered off Saturday's starter Andy Pettitte in Game 3.

Angels manager Mike Scioscia said Tuesday that Howie Kendrick will not be in the lineup for Game 5 against Yankees right-hander A.J. Burnett.
Kendrick is playing in Game 4 Tuesday against Yanks left-hander CC Sabtahia, but Maicer Izturis started the majority of regular season games against lefties and that tradition will continue in this best-of-seven ALCS.

Howie Kendrick knocked in five runs as the Angels beat the Rangers 10-5 on Sunday.
Kendrick hit a two-run homer in the sixth, then added a triple with the bases loaded in the seventh. He also had a single in the contest, missing the cycle by the double. Since being recalled in early July Kendrick is batting an incredible .383 with six homers and 36 RBI in just 162 at-bats. He's still not playing every day, but he's worth using in AL-only leagues anyway. Even those in mixed leagues can consider him if they're looking for batting average help and have secured positions in the counting stats.
