Brendan Ryan (finger) is out of Wednesday's lineup against the Astros.
Ryan says he could play through his sprained pinky, but manager Tony La Russa prefers he rest it for another day. "He's got some soreness, and we just didn't want to play guys who are sore," La Russa said. "This is a good chance to get him healthy. We don't want it to linger."
