Brett Anderson gave up four runs -- one earned -- in five innings Thursday in a loss to the Mariners.
Adam Kennedy's 20th error of the season helped lead to three runs in the fifth. Anderson struck out five and walked one. The loss snapped a four-game losing streak and put him back to .500 for the season. He finishes his rookie year 11-11 with a 4.06 ERA and an impressive 150/45 K/BB ratio in 175 1/3 innings. That he did give up 20 homers and a whopping 15 unearned runs is less encouraging.

Brett Anderson yielded three runs -- one earned -- in 5 2/3 innings Thursday in a victory over the Rangers.
Anderson struck out six and walked none to win a fourth straight start. He improved to 11-10, putting him over .500 for the first time in his young career. It's too late to put him into the mix for Rookie of the Year honors, but the A's have to be very encouraged.

Brett Anderson evened his record at 10-10 with six shutout innings in a 2-1 win over the Indians on Friday night.
Anderson struck out a career-high 10 in the win, holding the Indians to just four hits while walking just one. After a bit of a rough patch, Anderson has strung together three straight wins this month. The 21-year-old southpaw has a 4.21 ERA and 139/44 K/BB ratio in 164 2/3 innings (28 starts). Keep an eye on him for 2010.

Brett Anderson yielded two runs over seven innings in a 4-2 win over the Twins on Saturday afternoon.
Anderson held the Twins to just five hits while striking out four and issuing zero walks. Both runs scored on sacrifice flies. The 21-year-old southpaw induced 12 groundballs in the victory, including two double plays. The rookie has struggled a bit of late, but has strung together consecutive wins. He carries a 4.37 ERA into his next start against the Indians.

Brett Anderson surrendered four runs in six innings to take a loss against the Angels.
Anderson walked just one, but he also only struck out two and a three-run blast by Torii Hunter did most of the damage. Anderson now has a 4.10 ERA since the All-Star break, but his 55/16 K/BB and five homers in 59 1/3 innings allowed during that stretch suggest better results are on the way.

Brett Anderson hurled seven innings of one-run ball, but suffered a no-decision in an eventual 4-2 loss to the Mariners in 10 innings on Tuesday.
Consecutive excellent outings by Anderson. He scattered just six hits -- including a solo homer by Russell Branyan -- while walking one and striking out eight. Along with a 4.35 ERA and 1.30 WHIP, Anderson has a mighty-impressive 117/40 K/BB ratio in 140 2/3 innings (24 starts) this season. The rookie southpaw has shown that he is worthy of at least a matchup play in mixed leagues.
