According to the St. Petersburg Times, Rays pitching coach Jim Hickey will return for the 2010 season.
Hickey was at the end of his contract, but had a productive meeting with Rays execs Monday morning at Tropicana Field. "They want to have me back and I want to be back," he said, "so that’s probably what’s going to happen. We’re going to talk in the next couple days and work out the details.’’ Tampa Bay's pitching staff posted a collective 4.33 ERA and 1.36 WHIP this season.

David Price tossed seven innings of one-run ball in a 13-4 win over the Yankees on Friday night.
Price gave up just two hits, one of them a run-scoring single by Melky Cabrera in the second. He walked two and struck out five, improving to 10-7 with a 4.42 ERA over 23 starts. He was nearly untouchable at Tropicana Field, going 8-3 with a 2.93 ERA over 12 starts. The Rays should feel pretty good about him heading into 2010.

David Price held the Blue Jays to one run in 6 2/3 innings to pick up a win on Sunday.
The Rays won a close one 3-1, thanks in part to some nifty bullpen work that included five relievers throwing less than an inning and all five of them recording a hold or save. Price struck out just two in the outing, but also allowed just five baserunners. His overall numbers on the season still aren't pretty, but Price is finishing strong with a 3.41 ERA in his last 10 starts.

David Price allowed four runs -- three earned -- over seven innings on Monday night, earning his eighth win as the Rays topped the Orioles 8-4.
Price was roughed up in the first inning, allowing four runs after getting two quick outs, but he rebounded nicely by shutting the Orioles down over the next six frames and allowing the Rays to come back and win the game. After 20 starts, Price is 8-7 with a 4.60 ERA. That's probably not what owners were hoping for after his dominant work late last year, but he's still only 24 years old.

David Price allowed two runs over six innings against the Yankees on Tuesday night, but took a no-decision in an eventual 3-2 loss.
Price held the Yankees to just a second-inning solo homer by Nick Swisher before giving up a go-ahead RBI single to Alex Rodriguez in the sixth. He finished the night allowing just three hits against six strikeouts and two walks. With improved command, Price now has a 40/15 K/BB ratio in 58 2/3 innings since the All-Star break.
 David Price-S - Rays Aug. 29 - 7:17 pm et

David Price hurled seven-plus innings of one-run ball as the Rays defeated the Tigers 3-1 on Saturday afternoon.
Price has quietly put together a nice string of quality starts. He fanned four batters against one walk Saturday, lowering his ERA to 4.63. He's now 7-6 on the season and will go for win No. 8 next week in a crucial series against the Red Sox. The Rays are 70-58 on the year.
