Contrary to an earlier report, the Rockets have decided to pass on signing shooting guard Rashad McCants to a non-guaranteed contract.
Instead, they'll bring in free agent Romel Beck to fight for a roster spot. McCants still has a chance of landing somewhere, as he continues to fight his way back into the league after microfracture surgery. However, he's currently slowed by an abdominal injury, that appears to really be limiting him.

The Rockets signed shooting guard Rashad McCants to a non-guaranteed contract on Thursday.
That means he'll try to make the team in training camp. McCants has played for the Timberwolves and Kings since being drafted No. 14 overall in 2005, but was never able to bounce all the way back from microfracture knee surgery in the summer of 2006.

The Bobcats, Nuggets and Heat have all expressed interest in signing free agent guard Rashad McCants.
McCants already worked out for Denver, he'll be in Charlotte next week, and Miami has invited him to training camp. He will likely provide a burst of scoring off the bench for some NBA team this season, but his fantasy value is limited.

Free agent Rashad McCants' tweet yesterday: "I'm hoping to sign with Dallas soon. That's where I would like to play."
Not sure why - the Mavs are loaded on the perimeter. He'd play behind Josh Howard, Jason Terry, Matt Carroll and maybe even Quinton Ross. McCants' best chance for fantasy value is probably back with the Timberwolves.

The Kings did not make a qualifying offer to shooting guard Rashad McCants and will make no effort to re-sign him.
He's an unrestricted free agent, and could possibly end up back with the team that drafted him, as the Timberwolves are thin at the position.

Rashad McCants scored 14 points on 3-of-12 shooting (including a three) with four rebounds, one assist, one steal, and one block in 21 minutes off the bench against the Warriors on Sunday.
Owners in deep leagues should keep an eye on McCants, should Kevin Martin get shutdown. McCants has proven that he can put up numbers if given the playing time, and could become useful as the Kings get involved in a bunch of late-season shootouts.
