Marcin Gortat played just six minutes in Sunday's game, and finished with four points on 2-of-3 shooting.
So much for the Polish Hammer being a bigger part of the gameplan after last week's win over the Celtics that featured him and Dwight Howard playing heavy minutes together. He goes back to being irrelevant in fantasy leagues until he gets consistent playing time.

Coach Stan Van Gundy offered no guarantees that the Magic would be utilizing Marcin Gortat and Dwight Howard at the same time going forward, despite the success it had against the Celtics in Thursday night's win.
"I’ve never had doubts that that can be a good defensive lineup because you’ve got such great size and a better chance to protect the basket," said Van Gundy. "The question is whether or not we can be efficient at the offensive end of the floor and get enough space on the floor." Clearly he isn't sold on the concept, so it's a trend we might not see for a while, if ever.

 Marcin Gortat-F/C - Magic Jan. 29 - 12:10 am et

Marcin Gortat was used at the same time as Dwight Howard for stretches of Thursday's game against the Celtics, and finished with six points, eight rebounds, three blocks, and an assist in 26 minutes.
Who knows how much we'll see this going forward, but if Gortat is going to get this much run on a nightly basis he'll be worth a look in deeper leagues. It's worth pointing out that Howard was in some early foul trouble, but also that the Gortat/Howard combo worked very well late in the game.

Marc Stein of ESPN.com reports that "At least two sources with knowledge of Orlando's thinking remain convinced that the Magic will not consider trading reserve center Marcin Gortat before the summer."
Though fantasy owners are eager to see what Gortat could do with a full-time gig, it stands to reason that Orlando wouldn't want to deal its only viable backup to Dwight Howard mid-season. As things stand, it looks like the only way Gortat is going to end up with fantasy value is if Howard goes down with an injury.

 Andre Miller-G - Trail Blazers Dec. 15 - 10:44 am et

December 15th is the first day many FA signees are eligible to be traded. Such players include Andre Miller, Ramon Sessions, and Marcin Gortat.
Portland's need for healthy swingmen and big men could precipitate a trade involving Miller, and Jonny Flynn's growth in Minnesota may make Sessions expendable. We should start hearing rumors soon enough, so stay tuned.

Magic GM Otis Smith says he doesn't plan to trade either of the team's backup centers, Marcin Gortat and Brandon Bass.
"It's the same as it was before. I'm happy with those guys," Smith said on Monday. Gortat in particular would likely have increased value on any other team than the Magic, but for now there's no reason to speculatively pick him up. In any case, neither player can be dealt until December 15th.
