David Carr came in late in the second quarter on Sunday and completed 9-of-14 passes for 90 yards against the Raiders.
Carr also added 27 rushing yards and a touchdown on four carries. The former No. 1 pick is very capable of stepping in for Eli and moving the Giants' offense down the field.

According to ESPN's John Clayton, Eli Manning (plantar fascia) will start and "play as long as he can" for the Giants in Week 5.
Much like his older brother, Eli is impossible to keep out of the lineup. We still expect the Giants to lean heavily on Brandon Jacobs and Ahmad Bradhaw in the running game, and there is a chance that Eli will be forced out of the game. Look elsewhere if you have options available.

According to ESPN's Sal Paolantonio, Eli Manning (plantar fascia) is active, but the Giants have yet to decide if he will start against the Raiders.
We should have an answer on the Giants starting quarterback soon. David Carr will go if Eli is held out. We suspect that Eli is pushing to start, but the Giants may be hesitant to risk him against the woebegone Raiders.

Giants QBs coach Chris Palmer says he is "not pleased" with No. 2 quarterback David Carr's training camp.
Carr took three sacks in the Giants' preseason opener, then went 2-of-6 for eight yards Saturday at Chicago. "He's got to be more consistent," Palmer said. "He’s got to do things the way we want them done." The Jints may be in the market for a new backup if Carr can't get it together this week.

Giants re-signed QB David Carr to a one-year, $2.1 million contract. The deal includes $1 million to sign and a $1 million base salary.
Carr played well in the '08 preseason and looked capable in five spot appearances, completing 9-of-12 passes for 115 yards and a 2:0 TD to INT ratio. He likely would've been disappointed had he tried to parlay it into a chance to start elsewhere, though. The 29-year-old wouldn't have been more attractive than fellow retreads Byron Leftwich, Rex Grossman, or J.P. Losman.

David Carr completed 8-of-11 passes for 110 yards and a touchdown after replacing Eli Manning in the second half of New York's meaningless Week 17 loss to the Vikings.
The Giants may not have cared much about this game, but the Vikes were going full-bore, so Carr's performance remains impressive. Carr's future is very uncertain, but going out strong this year certainly won't hurt his stock.
