Tarvaris Jackson, an impending restricted free agent, wants to return to the Vikings for the 2010 season.
Jackson said he has heard nothing from the Vikings, however. Though "T-Jack" has done nothing to earn otherwise, the 26-year-old is due for another offseason of twisting in the wind while the Brett Favre "will he or won't he" drama plays out. Should Favre finally retire for good, neither Jackson nor Sage Rosenfels would be guaranteed Minnesota's starting quarterback job.

Tarvaris Jackson said he still thinks he can be the Vikings' franchise quarterback.
Jackson has accepted his backup role and says he is learning from Brett Favre. With the way the Vikings are playing, it would be a shock if Favre doesn't return to finish out the final year of his contract in 2010. Sage Rosenfels is signed through 2011 and Jackson will be a restricted free agent after this season. Jackson's future with the team is uncertain at best.

Tarvaris Jackson said Monday he doesn't want to run the Wildcat offense.
Jackson said he's a quarterback and prefers to run on bootlegs and scrambles. Percy Harvin is the Vikings' Wildcat quarterback anyway. Jackson did say that he'd be willing to line up out wide and catch some balls out of the formation.

Tarvaris Jackson will back up Brett Favre Sunday against the Browns.
Looks like Jackson has beaten out Sage Rosenfels for the No. 2 QB job, although Brad Childress did say the backup could change from week to week. With Favre admitting himself that he probably won't be able to play in 16 games, Jackson will get some snaps this season. That is, unless Jackson gets traded in the meantime.

 Sage Rosenfels-QB - Vikings Sep. 7 - 2:31 pm et

Vikings coach Brad Childress won't name a backup quarterback until Sunday.
We tentatively expect it to be Sage Rosenfels, who has recovered from his "tweaked" right ankle. Tarvaris Jackson finished the preseason on a high note, but Rosenfels offers a more similar skill set to starter Brett Favre.

 John David Booty-QB - Texans Sep. 5 - 4:45 pm et

Vikings waived QB John David Booty.
Maybe the Vikings aren't going to trade Tarvaris Jackson after all. Booty looked pretty bad in the preseason, but he'll almost certainly get some bites from other teams like the Jaguars.
