Jaguars CB Rashean Mathis (groin) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Bills.
It's unclear exactly how long Mathis will be out, but it could be multiple games. When Mathis missed the Week 8 loss to the Titans with a finger injury, FS Reggie Nelson shifted to corner. We would say to upgrade the Bills passing game, but the arm of Ryan Fitzpatrick negates any advantage gained here.

Usual Jaguars FS Reggie Nelson started Sunday's loss to the Titans at cornerback and struggled badly.
"He had a tough day," coach Jack Del Rio said. "He...struggled with the tackling part of it. For him to continue to play, he’s got to play better." Nelson hasn't been an efficient tackler since entering the NFL in 2007 and now seems to be losing confidence. He probably won't play corner again soon.

Coach Jack Del Rio confirmed that Reggie Nelson will enter the season as the Jaguars' starting free safety.
Nelson is coming off a down year after an exceptional, five-pick rookie campaign, but has held off versatile Gerald Alexander. Still, Nelson will be on a short leash. We'd avoid most of the Jaguars' secondary in IDP leagues.

Gerald Alexander will begin Jaguars training camp at free safety, indicating that Reggie Nelson's starting job may be in jeopardy.
Nelson will run with the first team, but it appears free agent pickup Sean Considine's strong safety job is more secure. Nelson, the 21st overall pick in the 2007 draft, slumped as a sophomore after a five-pick rookie season.

Free agent pickup Sean Considine was reportedly the best looking safety on the field during Jaguars Organized Team Activities.
Jags.com suggests that Reggie Nelson's job could be in danger after the club acquired Gerald Alexander. The reality is Considine is an athlete and bound to look good in shorts. He's never been durable when the pads go on.

Jaguars coach Jack Del Rio indicated in his day-after press conference Friday that he's been disappointed in FS Reggie Nelson's play this season.
Nelson bit on a pump fake Thursday night to spring Reggie Wayne for a 41-yard TD in the loss. "He’s been the culprit of some glaring mistakes," Del Rio said. "The eye violations (missed assignments) and (poor) tackling are parts of his game that need to come for him to go to the next level." Nelson has only 49 tackles this season and regressed as a second-year player.
