Bills placed CB/KR Leodis McKelvin (leg) on injured reserve, ending his season.
The Bills will turn to burnable veteran Drayton Florence after McKelvin fractured a bone in his lower leg/ankle are in Week 3. While his brief 2009 season will remembered for a Week 1 fumble against the Pats, last year's first-rounder has a bright future as both a corner and a returner.

Bills coach Dick Jauron revealed Monday that CB/KR Leodis McKelvin fractured a bone in his lower leg/ankle area in the team's Week 3 loss. He's out indefinitely.
Drayton Florence will step in at right cornerback. It's a very big loss for Buffalo because McKelvin is a dynamic return man, as well as a skilled cover corner. Florence was a free agent bust in Jacksonville last season.

Last week Jauron was hopeful that Florence could play, but now it looks as if Reggie Corner will take over as the team's nickel back while Florence is out.

Jauron expects Florence to be ready for the Week 1 matchup in New England. "We're pretty confident that he'll have a chance," said Jauron. Florence has been out nearly three weeks with the sprained knee.

Florence was battling for nickle duties with Reggie Corner and Ashton Youboty. The injury means that Corner will likely take over the role heading into Week 1. Florence's roster spot is in danger.

He can make $700K more in incentives. Florence, 28, is going to another zone scheme after flopping in Jacksonville's. The Bills didn't overpay, though, and Florence will be protected as a slot corner between Terrence McGee and Leodis McKelvin. Florence has a history of getting roasted outside.
