Phil Kessel had a goal and an assist for the Leafs, but they still fell to the powerhouse San Jose Sharks 3-2 on Monday night.
Don't look now but Phil Kessel is heating up once again. He now has six goals and 10 points in the Leafs' last five games. He's developing some nice chemistry with Tyler Bozak, which may bode well for him the rest of the way.

 Luke Schenn-D - Maple Leafs Feb. 6 - 11:06 pm et

Luke Schenn had his first NHL career two-goal game as the Leafs blanked the Sens 5-0 on Saturday night.
Schenn now has 12 points in 56 contests for the Leafs this season. The three points snapped his eight-game point-less drought. In the last three contests, Schenn has averaged 21:45 per contest for the Leafs, and seems to be earning his stripes for Ron Wilson recently. Having a young(ish) mentor in Dion Phaneuf might just help accelerate Schenn's development in the NHL. Phil Kessel also picked up two goals and an assist in tonight's victory.

Toronto GM Brian Burke's youngest son, Brendan, died in car crash in Indiana Friday afternoon.
Our condolences go out to the Burke family. Brendan made headlines earlier this year when he publicly admitted to his homosexuality while working with the University of Miami (Ohio) as a student manager. It was a courageous position to take, as no hockey player or hockey manager or coach has ever publicly come out. We are saddened by the 21-year-old's death and hope his message will endure.

Phil Kessel had two helpers in the Leafs 4-3 loss to the Devils Friday night.
Kessel assisted on Tomas Kaberle and Rickard Wallin's goals. This was all part of a late third period collapse where the Leafs surrendered three goals.

Phil Kessel has 10 points in his past 12 games.
That's pretty good production from someone with little help around him. Imagine what he could do if he had a legitimate center feeding him passes.

Phil Kessel scored his 18th goal of the season as Toronto shutout New Jersey 3-0 Tuesday night.
Kessel picked up a loose puck in the crease and buried it past Yann Danis. Nikolai Kulemin scored his 11th of the season and Francois Beauchemin picked up his fifth for the Leafs.
