White Sox re-signed outfielder-first baseman Mark Kotsay to a one-year, $1.5 million contract.
Chicago apparently liked what they saw from Kotsay after getting him in a midseason trade with Boston, re-signing him for the same money he made this year. He'll likely serve as the team's fourth outfielder and backup at first base, but his role won't fully take shape until general manager Ken Williams is done dealing.

Mark Kotsay got some revenge against his former team, going 3-for-4 with a home run, three RBI and three runs scored in a drubbing of the Red Sox on Friday night.
Kostsay clubbed a two-run homer off Paul Byrd in the second inning and then followed that up with an RBI-double in the White Sox five-run third inning. It was Kostay's first three-hit game since last August 31, fittingly as a member of the Red Sox against the White Sox. Kostay is batting .277 with one home run and six RBI since joining the White Sox. Even with Jim Thome out of the way, he doesn't come with much fantasy value at this point.

Newly-acquired IF-OF Mark Kotsay is getting the start at first base on Wednesday.
Kotsay is hitting sixth in his debut for Chicago, but is only starting because Jim Thome remains out with a sore back. Kotsay isn't likely to get enough at-bats to be an asset outside of deep AL-only leagues.

White Sox acquired IF-OF Mark Kotsay and cash considerations from the Red Sox for OF Brian Anderson.
Kotsay was designated for assignment by the Red Sox on July 24 after the acquisition of Adam LaRoche. Kotsay batted .257/.291/.324 with one home run and five RBI in 74 at-bats with the Red Sox this season. He is scheduled to join the White Sox on Wednesday.

Mark Kotsay had an ice pack on his right calf after Sunday's game.
Kotsay told reporters that he aggravated the muscle while making a defensive play in Baltimore a few days ago. "It won’t leave me alone," he said. "Hopefully I can grind it through the All-Star break." It sounds like it won't cost him playing time, but he doesn't hold much fantasy value anyway.

Mark Kotsay hit his first homer of the season when he took Vicente Padilla deep for a solo shot on Sunday.
Kotsay also singled in the contest, which was his third game back since off-season back surgery. He won't have any fantasy value.

Red Sox activated outfielder Mark Kotsay from the 15-day disabled list.
Kotsay will share backup outfielder duties with Rocco Baldelli and will act as insurance at first base and DH. He won't have fantasy value in AL-only leagues unless one of the starters gets injured.

Mark Kotsay will be activated from the disabled list before Tuesday's game, according to the Boston Globe.
Kotsay has overcome off-season back surgery and a more recent setback from an injured hamstring. He will play a backup outfielder role with Jeff Bailey being demoted to Triple-A Pawtucket.

Mark Kotsay (back, calf) returned to Boston Tuesday evening to be examined by the Red Sox medical staff.
Kotsay was rehabbing from January back surgery at Triple-A Pawtucket Sunday when he suffered a strained right calf muscle. As the Providence Journal states, "this latest injury will likely sideline him for a while."

Mark Kotsay strained his right calf muscle while running the bases in a rehab game with Triple-A Pawtucket on Sunday.
Kotsay, who's supposed to be rehabbing a back issue, suffered the same type of calf injury during spring training as well. "It's a setback," said Red Sox manager Terry Francona. "He didn't do it like he did it in Florida, but it is a setback. He was a little frustrated. I can understand. But it's not to the point where it was last time, which is good." Kotsay is not likely to return in the month of May.
