The Mariners announced Monday evening that third base coach Bruce Hines will not be return for the 2010 season.
The rest of Seattle's coaching staff will be back. "It's a long, longtime friend, and there's nothing I can say that's going to ease that," manager Don Wakamatsu said of Hines' firing. "It's the toughest decision I had to make." The M's will interview several candidates from outside the organization, but may ultimately slide first base coach Lee Tinsley over to third.

According to the Tacoma News Tribune, the Mariners have hired Jeff Kingston as their new assistant general manager.
Kingston was given the title of Padres Director of Baseball Operations in November 2002 and is now moving on to bigger and better things. "I am excited to add Jeff to our front office staff," Mariners GM Jack Zduriencik said Thursday evening. "He assisted in several capacities with San Diego and his skill set and diversity will aid this organization as we move forward."

Mariners activated third baseman Adrian Beltre from the 15-day disabled list.
Beltre has been on the disabled list since August 13 after getting hit in the groin with a ground ball. An impending free agent, Beltre could use a solid finish to an injury-riddled campaign in which he has played just 88 games -- easily on pace for his least games played since his rookie season in 1998.

Adrian Beltre (testicle) is expected to rejoin the Mariners Tuesday.
The third baseman has been sidelined since August 13 after taking a grounder in the crotch. He was able to take batting practice and perform fielding drills over the last week without reservations, and should jump right back to his normal production level. Hopefully he'll begin wearing a cup.

Adrian Beltre (bruised testicle) has shown improvement over the last few days and was even able to take batting practice Monday.
Last week, the Mariners were questioning whether he'd be ready August 28, the first day he's eligible to return from the disabled list. The situation got a little brighter Monday. "Adrian is feeling better," said M's manager Don Wakamatsu. "This might be a good sign."

Adrian Beltre (bruised testicle) is not expected to return from the disabled list when eligible next week.
Beltre is eligible for activation on August 28, but his stay on the DL is likely to last until mid-September. "I think the swelling's going down a little slower than we thought,'' Mariners manager Don Wakamatsu said Sunday. "It's improving, but slowly." Good thing the M's grabbed Bill Hall.

Adrian Beltre will avoid surgery on his injured testicle.
Hopefully he recovers quickly, because it's no fun having to write about this. The Mariners are thinking he'll be ready to resume baseball activities after a week of rest. We can only hope.

Mariners placed 3B Adrian Beltre on the 15-day disabled list with an injured testicle.
Cue the laugh track. Beltre, who doesn't wear a protective cup, had a ball clip him in the groin during Wednesday's game. There was some tearing and internal bleeding. The team is waiting to see if he will require surgery. With surgery, he would be out a month. Without, roughly two weeks. Beltre's certainly been snake-bit in his free agent season.

Adrian Beltre went 4-for-4 in a loss to the Royals on Thursday night.
He raises his average to .264, but all four hits were singles and he's still slugging just .373 with a .294 OBP. Nevertheless, it was nice to see him do something offensively after going 1-for-10 in his first two games back from surgery.

Adrian Beltre was 0-for-5 in his return from the disabled list on Tuesday night.
Beltre had been sidelined since June 28 after undergoing surgery on his right shoulder.

Mariners activated Adrian Beltre from the 15-day disabled list.
Beltre has been out of action since June 28 after undergoing right shoulder surgery. He returns to a .259/.291/.374 line with five homers and 31 RBI. It might take him a little while to get back into to the swing of things offensively, but with Jack Wilson now entrenched at shortstop, the Mariners have a pretty nice left side of the infield defensively.

Adrian Beltre is expected to return to the Mariners Tuesday.
Beltre has been sidelined since June 28 after undergoing shoulder surgery. "Everything looks good with Adrian, and it will be good to get him back," manager Don Wakamatsu said. The third baseman should provide a decent offensive boost for the Mariners, who have struggled to score runs lately.

Adrian Beltre, on the disabled list following June shoulder surgery, was "hitting balls into the upper deck in batting practice" Tuesday.
The Mariners are planning to activate Beltre next week when the club begins a series in Kansas City. "He says he feels great, but our concern is not to rush it too much," said Seattle manager Don Wakamatsu. "We don’t want to activate him and have him go right back on (the DL)." The third baseman will avoid a rehab assignment and simply continue working out with his teammates.

Adrian Beltre, on the disabled list following June shoulder surgery, took "dozens of groundballs" Sunday morning, according to the Everett Herald.
Beltre is thinking he may be ready in a week. "I’d love for him to play tomorrow," manager Don Wakamatsu said. "But the last thing we want to do is risk aggravating the bone spur to come back. Let’s make sure we’re not speeding it up too much. We’re already on a five-week schedule as it is." Beltre was given a six-to-eight week projection shortly after the procedure.

Adrian Beltre is hoping to return to the Mariners in two weeks.
Beltre has been playing catch and fielding groundballs, and is expected to hit off a tee Saturday. He underwent elbow surgery on June 30 and was given a six-to-eight week recovery range. It appears he's on the six-week side of that projection.

Adrian Beltre, on the disabled list following June shoulder surgery, took ground balls Wednesday and is hoping to hit off a tee next week.
Beltre impressed all onlookers with his workout Wednesday. "It was supposed to be controlled ground balls right at him and then all of the sudden you see someone hook one down the line and he snatches it," said Seattle manager Don Wakamatsu. "Everything is going really good with him." Beltre still doesn't have full range of motion in his left shoulder, but it's nice to see a little progress.

Adrian Beltre (shoulder) played catch for the first time on Thursday, although there is still no timetable for his return.
Beltre had surgery on his left shoulder on June 30. He will continue his rehab with the Mariners. Although there is no timetable for his return, Beltre believes he will definitely return this year. Early estimates had him out for six to eight weeks, which would mean a return in the middle of August at the absolute earliest. Beltre said he feels "better than I thought."

Adrian Beltre, who underwent shoulder surgery in late June, will be examined by Dr. Lewis Yocum in Los Angeles on July 10.
Beltre is hoping he'll be cleared to begin rehab activities. He was given a six-to-eight week timetable the day after his surgery and would obviously like to be back in a Mariners uniform by mid-August.

Mariners placed infielder Adrian Beltre (shoulder surgery) on the 15-day disabled list.
Beltre underwent successful surgery Tuesday to remove bone spurs from his shoulder. He's expected to return to the lineup in six to eight weeks. The Mariners will attempt to paper over third base with the banjo-hitting trio of Ronny Cedeno, Chris Woodward and Josh Wilson.

Adrian Beltre is scheduled to undergo surgery Tuesday to remove bone spurs in his right shoulder.
Beltre is expected to miss up to eight weeks once he goes under the knife. He decided to undergo the surgery after a meeting with team physicians last week. "It would be different if I was helping the team, but I'm not," the third baseman said Saturday. He won't return in time for the July 31 trade deadline, that's for sure.
